I heard colleges don't care how many times you take it, but what should be the limit? I heard some people say you shouldn't take it a lot.

I think 2-3 times is reasonable. Some might say 3 is too much, but if you have a big change each time you take it, that’s okay.
But if you take it the first time and do really well and are taking it again for another 20 points on the SAT or 1 overall point on the ACT, it really isn’t worth it.

Do colleges know how many times you take it?

3-4. You probably won’t really improve after that unless all those tests were in a row (which is a waste of money).

No, but some schools want your whole testing history as a matter of integrity and it can help for superscoring.

Alright thanks :)

I only took the ACT twice and the SAT once… But if you really want to improve your score there doesn’t have to be a limit on taking it. I know that this is not common at all, but a close friend of mine only got a 22 the first five times she took it… But kept taking it because she was so determined. The sixth time she got a 28… Which completely changed where she could go to school. So yeah most people won’t go up in points that much… But you never have to give up.
