This past test was my 3rd time. My highest score to date is a 29. I think I improved on this last test, but would still like to take it again in October. My question is: At what point do colleges say is TOO MANY times taken?

With the ACT, you only send the scores YOU want to send, so they never see how many times you have taken it.

On the contrary, SAT scores send every test date you took it on , meaning colleges see how many times you took it and what you scored on each one.

Not anymore does SAT send all scores they now have score choice.

It is irrelevant to consider the number of times one takes the test. It takes some longer to learn the test than others, and the fact that you have to take the test more times to reach a certain score does not say anything about your ability and/or intelligence. A 36 is a 36, whether you took it once or seven times, as in the end the students both demonstrated they perform on the test in the same manner. Keep taking the test until you you are either happy with your score or just sick of taking it. They let you take it as many times as you want for a reason. If the number of times you took it was relevant to evaluating you as a student(the test is bad at that nonetheless), they would have a limit of times that you could take it. Good luck to you.

I hear 3 is pretty much the max. That’s what I’m doing after my traumatic ACT experience.

some colleges require all test scores to date. so i would say 3.

generally after 3 scores dont get much better unless you like study a bunch when you havnt studied for your previous ones

Well I just took it for the eight time (or was it 9th? Can’t remember lol) and I’ll probably take it two more times. My scores have improved each time.

This was my 3rd and final time. I don’t see the point in continuing.

up to 3 times is fine…

more than 4 times = bad…

If I were an admissions officer, and I saw someone take the test three times and get a 36 every time, I wouldn’t think it was cocky I would think it was awesome.
