Alright, so my question really has two layers.

This may sound dumb, but does it look bad to only take the ACT and only take it once? I scored a 34 and don't want to risk retaking it. But, do colleges possibly want to see some consistency and have me take it multiple times?

Second, with my 34 I only scored an 8 on writing. I'm confident I could score higher on writing if I simply had written more. But, I'm a bit concerned I may only score say a 33 if I were to retake it. Is it worth it to retake an 8?

If you want, feel free to only respond to one part of the question. Thanks!

I think you are fine. You might be right about the consistency part, but then again colleges don’t want to see you making a career out of test taking.

I only took the ACT once, and I think I scored relatively low on writing but got a 35 overall. I decided that was good enough, and I think you should too.

If you are really looking to improve the writing then you could retake it again (who knows maybe you’ll overall will be higher). Even if you scored lower in everything ur second time colleges don’t look for consistency. Actually, most (with the exception of some small colleges and the military academies) superscore ur ACT taking the best scores from all ur sections. Taking it a second time definitely couldn’t hurt.

That is a great score and should get you in wherever you want to go. However, I think schools would want you to take it more than once, especially if you are only a junior. No one can take the 34 away from you, so it can only go up.
