I'm currently a Junior and I took it last November so I got my scores back but I would like to improve. I go to an SAT prep and they suggest I take it again in March but I heard something about you should only take it 3 times? Or taking it in senior year as well? Could anyone enlighten me to these?

It’s not that you can only take it 3 times, it’s just that for some colleges taking it more than 3 times looks desperate. If you are a junior and you want to get a head start on college applications, I would take all of them before senior year (college apps open in August for the most part). But if you really want to focus on improving your score each time, I would take it in March like your prep class recommends and then again in early senior year.

Agree with nicoleg13 that some colleges feel like you’re desperate after 3 times. I myself made sure I didn’t overdo it. But with score choice, many kids are just sending the top scores are not sending the rest. I’d recommend a limit of 3, just so you focus and finish it so you can pay more attention to other things.

Take your last one in December of senior year…

No more than 3 times. Some colleges see all your scores

Thank you very much everybody I appreciate the help!
