How many times should one take the SAT?

Some people say that 3 times is the maximum, but don’t students get to choose the scores they send to colleges just as the ACT scores?
Do colleges see how many times one has taken it and what their score was?
Personally speaking, I am studying for SAT super late, so I will need to take both tests a couple times to get the hang of it and score high. I’ll be screwed if 3 times is maximum for good colleges!

Thanks,
Chel

You are right that you can take the SAT more than 3 times, but the recommendable is to take it 3 times for schools that require to send all scores. You need to see if the policy of each school that you will apply. They don’t know how many times you have taken the test but be honest because if they find out, you will be rejected.

I agree. 3 times should be your maximum. Hopefully once or twice is enough. If the schools you are applying to allow superscore, use that to your advantage and maybe you won’t have to take it a third time.

Thanks for the info!

I know Yale and Stanford require you to submit all your scores but I don’t know about other schools.
