how many times to take sat

Hey I was wondering how many times I should take the sat.
I got a 2020 in January and I'm hoping for a 2300 plus in may.
if i don't manage to get a 2300+ in may, would it be fine if I took again in october?

Thanks!

if you would like collegeboard to be $45 richer, go ahead :D

If you feel like you can actually achieve that score. If you cannot, don’t waste your time and money. But if you think that you actually can, then sure go ahead.

You need to sack up and own this test.

You’ll likely need to prepare a lot, but you do have time. If you feel confident around October and your practice tests indicate you should do fine, then I would go for it. =) If possible, during preparation, it may be a good idea to save two or three official CB tests in order to check that you’ve improved enough by October.

Also, a general note: many CCers believe re-taking the SAT any number of times is fine. However, Harvard’s website states that “it is generally our experience that taking tests more than twice offers diminishing returns.” This can be interpreted either as the scores themselves do not usually increase after two tries, or that Harvard will not view a higher score as favorably if someone has taken the SAT several times.

I have not written to Harvard for clarification, but I think we should all keep this sentence in mind.
