I read on here that you should only take it 3 times. I'm a junior and have already taken it twice... should I not take it again until senior year??

i guess so, i did u take it twice in the first place

what? i dont understand

sorry
why did u take it twice in the first place?

My son took it 3x as a junior & like most of his classmates won't be taking it as a senior. He took it once in Nov (the old SAT with no essay), then again in Jan (again the old with no essay) & the NEW one with essay in March. He was satisfied with his score, tho not thrilled with the essay score, but there is a LOT of criticism about that portion of the test anyway.

He's also taken SATIIs--once for bio in 9th grade & 3 in May of junior year & one in Oct of senior year. If he were to do it again, I think he would have chosen the subject tests more carefully for junior year so he didn't have to take ANY tests senior year. He wanted to take Math II (only took Math 1 before).

The GC at their HS recommends that the juniors take all the standardized testing as juniors so they don't HAVE to take any more as seniors unless they REALLY need to improve a score or something. This frees their energy to work on college aps & scholarships. Your guidance counselor should be able to advise you.

No one told me not to. Why is it bad to take it more than 3 times?

stf300, unless you think your score improves drastically(at least 100 points or so), its not worth neither the time nor the money to take the SAT 1 a 4th time. I personally don't think colleges give a **** about how many times you take the SAT; however, taking it numerous times with very little score fluctuation would not help you in any way.
