How many units for your first quarter @ UC?

When I went to orientation, they adamantly told us new transfers to take only 12 units (3 classes) so that we could ease into the transition. Part of me wants to ignore this and take 16 units (4 classes).

Any thoughts? How many units are you guys planning on taking?

Forget counselors. Do what you want to do. I honestly never take any guidance from them. Reading the course catalog and taking advice from upper classmates >>> counselors.

They forced me to take 12 for my freshman orientation, or else I couldn’t leave the orientation and get my class printout. I managed to acquire an extra 2 units, but still.

I am taking 13 units.

I’m going to take their advice and only take 3 classes. I do want to get myself comfortable with the quarter system.

Supposedly when most transfers took 4 classes their first quarter there was a D average among them. It increased to a B average when they took only 3. At least this is what the Orientation Assistants said. So you can make of that what you want.

If you transfered with 90 units you only need the remaining 90 to graduate.

So if you divided by the 6 quarters you have it comes out to be 15 a semester average.

12 this semester and 16 the rest of the way is more than enough units so i wouldn’t sweat it.Also you have the option of taking summer classes as well

My friend is taking summerbridge at UCSD, and he said two classes are enough. I think you should go with three.
