Incoming freshmen, how many units are you taking? I have a block of 12 units in my major (art/design) and have added one more liberal arts class to round it out to 16, but now I’m not so sure it’s a good idea as some have told me 12 units is plenty for the first quarter at college and that 16 units could be very stressful when starting out.
Any advice would be appreciated.

If you took more “challenging” courses in high school and some of the classes you’re gonna take are like intro classes, you should be fine doing 16 units (especially since you are in the college of liberal arts). I think they mostly say the whole 16 units is a lot thing so that engineering majors and stuff don’t end up on ap their after their first quarter. I’m also in the college of liberal arts, and I only took 12 units my first quarter, but I wish I took 16 cause it would have helped me get ahead and I definitely think I could have handled it.
