<p>How many units does it take to be considered a sophomore? NOT "sophomore standing" with AP units, but real, Telebears-class sophomore?
I know that the average amount of units students take in a semester is 16. But for the first semester of freshman year, we are advised to take 13... So would you be considered a sophomore with 29 units (13 fall plus 16 spring)? Or do you need 32 (16 plus 16)?</p>
<p>I’m pretty sure it is 30 units per level, so at 30 you’d be considered a sophomore by telebears.</p>
<p>My bearfacts says my Non AP-level is freshman, but my future Telebears standing is Junior, so I think that AP’s might count towards it, because including this semester’s units I’ll have 59 non AP units. Unless there measure for future standing anticipates the units you’ll take next semester, they must include AP units. </p>
<p>I’m taking an extra seminar so that I can get to 90 units (including the units I will be enrolled int) to further improve my standing for the next telebears (that is if AP units actually do count), so maybe you could find a really easy 1 unit class/seminar to give you sophomore standing.</p>

<p>So for sure then, you need 30 units to be considered a true sophomore by Telebears? I only ask because I did 14 units this fall, and I’m currently signed up for 15 for spring. I guess I’ll find a DeCal or seminar or something if it’s really 30.</p>
<p>Taking classes solely to improve your telebears standing is kinda silly. Just saying.</p>
<p>If an easy 1 unit seminar will allow you to sign up for classes a week earlier, it doesn’t seem too silly. Maybe its because I’d rather not have 8am or 8pm classes any more, but I really wish I had greater priority for todays telebears.</p>
<p>I heard the priority order for telebears is senior, junior, freshman, and then sophomore though. So sophomore standing might not be a good thing.</p>
<p>My suitemate has freshman standing, and her phase 2 was nov 30, whereas i have soph standing and my phase 2 was dec 7. That seems to support what I heard.</p>

That’s actually the best explanation of the telebears ranking I’ve heard so far. My roommate she has junior standing, so her phase I telebears was in late Oct. I, myself, have sophomore standing, and my telebears was in the very last day of Phase I. And one of my floormate she has freshman standing but much earlier telebears than I do.</p>
