<p>I’d guess that more than 50,000 students get the packages. How’d I come up with the figure? 50,000 students qualify for National Merit semifinalist or National Merit Commended. Any students scoring that high meet the minimum qualifications for Harvard admissions.</p>
<p>In addition, there are students who’d qualify for Harvard who didn’t take the PSAT or who somehow blew the PSAT even though they are very bright. They could get application packages as a result of their SAT or ACT scores.</p>
