Hi. I know that a 36 is the average of all 4 sections (my daughter took it years ago). I know one could get 36, 36, 35 and 35 and end up with a 35.5 which is a 36 composite. I also know one can get a 34 on one section if they get 36 on all the rest = 35.5 = 36 composite. Does anyone know OVERALL - how many that means you could miss on entire test. For example, I know that each section has a raw and scaled score (believe me I have researched this alot) - but usually on one test I see 1 wrong on math could be a 36 and one on reading a 36, but then on that tests particular scale you could not miss anything on English or science. If you missed one on science it was a 34…so that would mean that your English had to be perfect as well - for the 36, 36, 36 and 34…Anyone ever seen on practice tests an overall scale where you miss 3 on the entire overall test and still get a 36? Thoughts?
I did a web search for act curve and found a web-site from college pa*nda useful to answer your question. Sorry, can’t post a link here.
@osuprof thank you! I think the stuff I was looking at before were articles etc from 2015…that basically said no more than 2 overall on entire test. BUT, I think with the changes of the ACT in 2015 - some saying harder…it actually could be up to 4…THANK you so much. love that site!
