In the dreaded world of College Confidential, there are many A and B students, but there are some who choose to be a little daring and get a lower grade. This is a thread to make us feel better about ourselves!

Current School: Mid level UC How many non-A's total? I got one C+ in Calc II Major:Econ In pre-reqs or GE's? It's a pre-req Schools applying to:UCB, UCLA Comments: I hate Math!

I am currently at Ohio University, and my record was pretty good, mostly A's, an A-, a few B+s...and one WP (withdraw-passing). I was just trying to do WAY too much. But... I also had high test scores, a good high school record and was in the honors program here.

Luckily, I got into my 1st choice for transfer, which is one of the top-20 universities (OU is 118 I think). My WP must not have been too much of an issue to the folks there- I'm transferring in the fall! I'd say that as long as the rest of your stuff is pretty good, you should be fine. If your college grades, high school record, recommendation letters and essays are strong, one blip shouldn't put you in danger, in my opinion.
Mallory :)

A C+ in Calc II will if he's an Econ major. That's a major prep course for UCLA/UCB. If he didn't get at least a B in Calc 1 then he's in trouble no matter how good of an overall GPA or E/C he has.

I got an A in Calc I and A's in the rest of the pre-reqs, for the rest of my classes I got A's also including two A-'s thrown in for good measure.

Oh yeah,

"This is a thread to make us feel better about ourselves!"

This thread is like going to an eating disorder clinic and asking each patient how much bacon he or she has eaten in the past week.

I got a D in Calc II...I got sick and missed a ton of class late in the semester. It sucks because I was able to sort of half-ass my other classes to not fall behind while I made up the material, but you can't really half-ass Calc II, and if I want to explain it to adcoms, the extent of the explanation is, "See these good grades I got that semester? They're because I am good at BSing." :(

I have two W's, one because of first semester overload and the other due to conflicts with my work...I retook one and got an A and opted not to take the other once I decided to transfer, because it was a course unique to the institution. I also got a B once. ****ed me off something fierce...my average for the class turned out to be like an 89.499, also in my first semester. Tough class.
