How many yall submitted a picture?

What good is this picture for anyways, if we submit it?

bumpity bump bump

i really have no idea what the picture is for, but i submitted it..i'm kinda curious as to why they ask though....

Probably first impression

This has been addressed before.
Reasons given by other members have been:
-to check out if you're lying about your race
-something to go by
" the girl who posed with the piano "
instead of: "the girl who plays piano" - "which one?"

It's NOT about race. Credible reasons are something to go by / remember you by, to allow CU to put a name to a face, to give you a chance to show your personality in a photo, to allow the adcoms to remember you if they met you previously.

because they only take attractive applicants obviously

Did not submit a photo. Got deferred. Oh, goody -- Now I know WHY I was deferred! I can be all annoyed at PhotoStop!

Does the picture have to be of only you or can you have something that represents you in the picture as well?

the picture is optional for a reason, it may or may not help them put a face to a name, it may not...

in the spectator there was an article how the adcoms have already gotten something like 50% more applications than this time last year or something so perhaps the picture becomes more important when two people are being chosen between.....

or maybe not, just submit something, it's not hard to do.

It's for the admissions officer if he/she had met you earlier when they visited your school so they can recognize you.

You learn a lot about a person by just looking at him or her. I think that is what Columbia wants

I tried about 50 times to upload my picture to the online app. It says that it had to be in .doc format and not .jpeg, but after saving the pic in a doc, it was way too big and a window comes up saying that it's over a certain amount blah blah. =( I'm good looking too, haha jk.

My D scanned a photo in about 150 dpi and then pasted it to a Word document. The resolution was good and the file wasn't too large.

gohenry, try resizing the file in a photo editing program like microsoft photo editor

"because they only take attractive applicants obviously"

Ladies, put make up on before you take the picture.
