How many years of college do you plan to pay for? 4? 5? 6? More?

I don’t see how a UG college projects 25k for living. Even if a luxe campus apt or off campus costs, say, $1000-1200/mo, that leaves $1000+ monthly? Unusual, to say the least.

There seems an effort by one poster to insist over time that her kid’s way is superior. The reality is that we each try to find the best options for our kids and our budgets.

Just did the math on this. . .7 kids, two already have BAs. We are paying for graduate program for one of them. 2 more in college with near full-rides, and 3 more yet to enter college. . . we will pay for about 24 years of college in all. Understood that each will finish BA/BS in 4 years. So far they have, or are on track to.

atomom, Wow, I never thought about it that way. For us, then, it would be 20 years of college, assuming 4 years apiece and no significant aid. Yes, I think we will have to make it clear that 4 years is all you get.

DS made sure he went to a school that had high 4-year graduation rates. We could not have helped with a 5th year. He plans to go to med school, but that will be on his own dime.
