I am going to need to take calc 1, calc 2, multivariable calc, elementary differential equations, and elementary linear algebra. Will this take more than 2 years? The last two math classes are only 3 credits each.

hmmm , u must have given a placement test… which maths class were u placed in btw?

If you want to do it as fast as possible, you could do it like this.

Sem/Quart 1
Calc 1

Sem/Quart 2
Calc 2
Linear alg

Sem/Quart 3
Calc 3
Differential equations

or take one in the summer

Summer
Calc 1

Fall
Calc 2
Linear Alg

Spring
Calc 3
Differential Eq

boom. done in one year.

No it will not take more than 2 years. I recommend completing everything within 2 years rather than 1 year if you have to take calculus based physics and other science/CS/engineering courses.

hahahahha that boom u r done in 1 yr made me smile lol

I guess im going to take a class this summer. Ill probably get placed in calc 1, and if not that precal.

At my school, diff eq has a pre req of calc 3, so its gonna take a little longer.

I had to finish first quarter of calc 3 (my school Foothill has multivariable calc in two quarters) to take linear algebra or diff eqs

Unfortunately Supa Ragma and grey synatics have(unintentionally, Im sure) mislead you a bit. You need to pass Calculus 2 before taking Linear Algebra so to take all three of those math classes it would take you at least 3 semesters. How do I know? Im a math major. Plus you definitely need to pass Calc 2 for Linear Algebra.

Pre-req for linear algebra at my CC is Calc 1 and pre-req for differential equations is Calc 2.

At Cal Math 54 (which combines Linear Algebra and Differential Equations in one course) requires Math 1B (which is Calc 2). But it has differential equations which is the reason it requires Calc 2.

If you want to finish your math in 2 years, dont bother killing yourself by taking more than 1 each semester…

Oh my bad. I guess some schools pre-reqs for linear algebra is only Calc 1. For my school it is Calc 2. Also vincent, KingInc is right. Taking more then 1 math class a semester is an absolute killer. Im taking Calc 3 and Diff. Eqs right now and its really tough. I had a field day just handling Calc 2 by itself last semester, but its obviously ur choice. Just make sure you have the time to dedicate to both.
