my kid is a rising senior and will be majored in humanity/social science in the college. He took 3 years of science classes already, and will take all AP classes focused on humanity/social science in his senior year. Will the fact that he does not take a natural science class in the senior year damage his chance to be accepted by the most selective schools?

No. D took no science her senior year (took econ & linguistics electives instead in that time block) and was accepted to Dartmouth and Harvard.

thank you for your reply. BTW, which school did she go finally? D or H ?

I’m shocked that you need to ask. D, of course!

I can’t speak for everyone, and I know H usually wins those contests, but what she found on her post-acceptance visits (apart from the classes she sat in on that blew her away) was that the Dartmouth students had a reason for choosing the college while the Harvard students, when asked why they chose the school, were, “It’s Harvard.” Not a good enough reason for her. She made the right choice.

AboutTheSame: interesting to hear what your D thought about H and D.
BTW, what are the 3 science classes during her high school?
thanks;

Physical Science (freshman), Chemistry (sophomore), Biology (junior); only senior option was AP Environmental Science, as I recall, but there might have been something else.

What’s her major now? I guess not science.
