How much aid did you get?

Total was 42,920
But loans take about 15k

May I ask what your EFC was?

NYU practices preferential packaging you guys, remember that as well!

I applyed to the College of Nursing

Nursing Scholarship - $10,000
Arch Scholarship - $21,812
J. Eckhouse Scholarship - $3000
Work Study - $4000

Total : 38,812

The rest are loans which come to 15k per year

I think I got a pretty good package

My EFC was a lilltle over 10,000

^ that’s pretty sweet though.

CollegeBoard is out of date.

The new 2009-2010 tuition rates are up:

[NYU Office of Financial Aid](<a href=“Financial Aid and Scholarships”>Financial Aid and Scholarships)

Stern and Tisch are higher than the other schools.

Also be aware that for sophomore year and after, unless you take the lowest cost housing and the cheapest meal plan, there’s no way you’re staying at the amount they’re quoting. Just telling you this for budgeting purposes. (I know a lot of upperclassmen don’t even take the meal plan.)

Definitely appeal.
And you should be looking for outside scholarships if you aren’t already. try fastweb.com. It’s late in the game but it won’t hurt.

Does anyone know how much of a difference the Steinhardt Scholars Program will make in financial aid? The letter they sent me said they gives scholarships and grants but it didn’t say anything about how much and the only way I can afford to go is if it’s really significant.

Should I appeal

I have to pay 21k a yr for nyu. I want to appeal by saying that I got into baruch honors which is free. Could this work if I sent my baruch honors letter?

I got absolutely no FA. Nothing but a $2,750 unsubsidized loan and a PLUS loan my parents aren’t accepting.

Woo. =/

Lauren8822 - Wow, that’s harsh! Was your EFC high?

Yeah, my EFC is high. The thing is that my family had a lot of college money in the stock market, so you can see the problem there.

My family said I can still go, but I feel really guilty because it’s gonna be a strain.
