How much aid will I recieve if I apply now?

I am a dependent child. My parents make anywhere from 150k-250k a year. I am lower middle class, I think. How much aid do you think I will get if I apply now? I know it's late but my parent's income is average.

please help

Your parent’s income is way way way above average. You will probably not qualify for much, if any, need based aid. For federal aid you will qualify for a student Stafford loan of up to $5500. Your parents will probably qualify for PLUS loans. You won’t qualify for any federal or State grant aid, just loans.

If you are attending one of the elite schools that promises to meet full need there is a possibility you may qualify for some aid from them. But it will not be very much.

Wow … if you are lower middle class, I guess I’m poor. Huh. I learn something new every day.

Sorry - I shouldn’t be that way. But truly, your parents make more than most. Swimcatsmom is correct … not much besides loans.

R u 4 real?

Well…how much aid will you receive? I’ll stick my neck out. With that income level, you will be offered an unsubsidized Stafford loan, and likely nothing else (unless you have been accepted to Harvard, Stanford, or similar schools where you pay 10% of your income towards the costs).

Your family income is 3-5 times the national average…just for reference.

It’s getting mighty late to apply for financial aid. Deadlines have long passed. If your college doesn’t meet full need, they might not HAVE any funds of their own left to disperse (and that includes merit based scholarship funds that require the financial aid applications).

Your EFC (expected family contribution from the FAFSA) will be in the $40,000 a year range (maybe a little lower maybe a little higher depending on family assets).

If the school uses Profile, they will likely consider additional financial information.

Did you speak to your parents about college costs and their contributions already? If not…do so ASAP.

For a reality check, please check the following tables of median family income by state. It would be amazing if you qualified for a dime of financial aid. Unsubsidized Stafford Loans and Plus loans are an option.

Any idea what the median income is for families with college age children, i.e. with parents in their peak earning years?

■■■■■? (10 chars)

Its 3/29 and I was wondering how much financial aid i would get if i applied now. My parents income is around 180k.

There are some responses to the above poster in the thread he/she started.
