is this average?

I have no idea, but my numbers are similar to yours.

mine is about the same too.

My gift aid was 5k

gift aid 16+k
but i have a tution waver too so its different too…

Doesn’t it just vary from each student? Depending on how early they filed the FAFSA and their financial situation? o.o

How do people get $8k Cal Grant?! My cal grant B is only $1551…

What’s diff between CG A and CG B? I’m so confused.

It doesn’t matter ‘how early’ you filed for your FAFSA, just as long as it was filed before the deadline.

Oh, cuz my high school counselor told me it’s first come first serve basis, so I’m don’t know. o.o;

I doubt they give more money to people who submit first over someone who submits a few weeks/months later especially if the person submitting later is in greater need of financial aid over the early applicant.

Then again I could be wrong…just doesn’t make much sense imo.

The Cal Grant amount depends upon parents income.

To Jenuwin01:

My Cal Grant B is also the same, that’s weird…
How does UCR calculate the financial aid package?
I’m assuming that since I’m only getting $1,551 from Cal Grant I’m going to have to pay more? (since that figure above is only an estimate from UCR)

One more question: How do you know if you’ve received Chancellors/Regents scholarship?

Cal grant B is only that small amount for the first year. Next year if you choose B then it will cover all your tuition and fees if you qualify for it.

So does that mean I won’t have to pay a dime next year? Well, except for books and stuff… lol.

No it means your tuition will be paid for but your housing you will still have to pay for. They have the description on google. Just type in Cal Grant B

So… they pay for my tuition… and UCR is giving me 9300 in grants and there are also other grants… so my housing would be covered through other grants right? Or, would my UCR grant be lower next year? O_o

I think we’re supposed to file a new FAFSA every year? o_o So it varies, right?

yes we are suppose to file a new one every year… [Grants for College Students, College Grants, Grants for School California: Cal Grant awards](http://www.calgrants.org/index.cfm?navId=11) hope it helps :)

Your Cal grant is based on your UNWEIGHTED gpa for example I have a 2.8 unweighted but a 3.2 weighted. To get an A cal grant you must have a gpa of 3.0 or higher un weighted. I got about 16k in aid 8k in loans
