How much are you taking out in loans for NYU

$5000 a year...not bad.

I'm starting to worry. How are we going to pay for all these loans?

bout 16k....

Dear duobeef-

We aren't. We will become fugitives within six months or less of graduation. But at least we can tell our illigetimate grandchildren that we went to NYU.

Nice (10char)

Seriously, I just did the math and I'm going to be taking out like 38k per year in loans, assuming my plan doesn't work out to transfer to a HYSPM, where tuition would be almost free since I'm so low income. I just don't understand why NYU's financial aid is so freaking horrible.

Its alright Duo - we're in the same boat. I think a lot of people are...

okay now i have a question for all of you guys...basically the people reading this thread would have the best idea for an answer. The "loan" I am taking for these 4 years i said was about 90-110K and its not really a loan like from a bank or financial aid. Its from extended family that does not expect to be paid back, but who I intend to pay back with interest hopefully one day. My question to you guys is, how did you guys find scholarships and other merit based things because I am having a really tough time because I dont show financial need on the fafsa forms and everything but my parents are definitely being strained in trying to send me here. So basically my only help will come in the form of merit scholarships, anyone have any advice? Stern gave me some money and i tried to call the financial aid center and appeal but they denied it even when i explained why i didnt file a fafsa due to the fact that on paper i look a lot better than i really am. Any advice?

merit scholarships are just given to you - you cant really apply. Your best bet is hitting up scholarships which can be found on scholarships.com - there isnt much else you can do other than work.

uh 28K per year....omg

I agree with Outono Noite. School merit scholarships, I believe, are determined when your application was considered. Fastweb.com is a really good site for outside scholarship funds as well.
