How much can a midyear report help your admission?

I know it can hurt it, and I know a kid who got an F and got rescinded from University of Washington. My question is, I applied to USC (my top choice) on January 6, and just received a 4.0 report card for my first semester of my senior year. My cumulative UW gpa that I submitted for my first three years was a 3.7. Would submitting a midyear report at this point really improve my chances, or would it just prevent me from potentially being rescinded later?

You’re right: the mid-year report probably won’t help your chances. The point is to demonstrate that you haven’t become a slacker now that you’ve finished applying to colleges.
