How much can I increase my SAT score in three months?

Hello,
I currently have a 1490 on the SAT's which is not so great, I know. My math is a 480, my reading is a 520 and my writing is a 490 and an 8 on the essay. I hope to bring it up to an 1800 in the next three months. I will have all of summer to prepare, and I hope to dedicate five hours daily to it. Is a 310 point increase possible in such a short period of time? Is there any kind of SAT study guide I can purchase, or any kind of study technique I should try?

Yes its very possible. But possible does not mean easy. You have to want it. And there are points in the summer where you will not want it.

Make a calendar. Specialize in each section for 1 1/2 weeks and then move on the next. Then fully start taking practice tests, not timed. Then after one or two tests untimed, start pressuring yourself with timed tests.

For resources, jump around in this site, there are plenty of sources.

Looks like you can benefit from learning and practicing some basic http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1475829-sat-math-strategies.html.

Check in on the hyperlinked thread above periodically, join in on the discussion, practice applying these strategies during your study sessions, and watch your score improve.

If you spend a 100 hours you can score above 1800. That’s 8 hours a week, which is totally doable.

Don’t memorize for this test. There’s great advice throughout this forum on how to train for the test.

SAT prep books can be a huge help! Read reviews, either here or Amazon etc., and find one that intrigues you!

910 points

^ You can do that within a few hours, in a dream. :-)

very encouraging

It is very possible to improve from 1490 to 1800 by thorough preparation over the summer. But I don’t think it would be possible to increase from 1490 to 2400 (+910) in 3 months. If you do, Collegeboard would suspend the score release.
