So unfortunately my Senior year grades aren’t factored into my GPA.
This year I’m taking 6 classes, 4 APs, 1 honors course
AP Calc BC - A
AP English Lit - B+
AP French - A
AP Computer Science - A
Honors Physics - A
Government & Politics - A
Senior year current weighted GPA - 4.65
So unfortunately I slacked off a bit and only landed a cumulative 3.75 GPA before Senior year, but if I keep my grades, I’m on track for a cumulative 4.0.
Do colleges care about that? It makes the most sense to evaluate the most recent me, so I hope they take my strong senior year grades combined with a rigorous course load seriously.
What do you guys think?
Yes. The upward trend in your senior year is fantastic and you’re doing very well with the ap’s. They will definitely evaluate your most recent grades.
Does this mean I have a shot at applying to schools like Duke and Cornell? I have got a 32 on the ACT.

I would try to bump it up at least one point for those schools. Bottom 25th of Duke is a 32. It will still be a reach b/c of the amount of students applying with over a 4.0 but you have a decent shot especially with the mid-year.
Actually nvm I didn’t see that you’re a senior:P We’re in kind of similar situations. Maybe SAT II’s to emphasize areas that you are strong in. I don’t believe the ACT can change at this point unless they specifically say that they will take it.
Do you realize they look at the transcript, not simply the two lines with GPA? They will see the blip. Yes, of course it helps if sr grades are strong, but it can’t erase the less than A grades they’ll see. Are those in courses related to the major you state or hint at? If it’s just some weird electives (workshop, ceramics,) don’t lose sleep.
