Ok so im jw here but how much can the college essays help an applicant? Every 1 ive ever heard talk about the essay says it can "make or break" you (if necessary) . So what if the essay saved you? In other words, if an admissions counselor wanted to reject a person but then red my essay and thought it was so good that they wanted to admitt them? Thanks.

There's an old expression: They can help the wounded but can't revive the dead.

lol niiice

wait so college essays can hurt you?

Well I would say that the essays are the only things that are truly in your control. So do well on them.

I for one think that they can turn an average/below average applicant (on paper) into an awesome prospect.

I am sure I didnt not get into the programs I wanted to because of my essays

if your a transfer, its somewhat insignificant, for freshie applicants its probably worth significantly more.
