I've already done a bunch of SAT prep and decided to try out an ACT practice test. I scored a 27. How much do you guys think i can raise my score, and how much did you guys raise yours?

Bump…I Dont know if its worth prepping for the ACT or trying to raise my 1800 SAT…anybody?

a 27 is equivalent to a high 1200…and it is so much easier to improve on the ACT than the SAT. all you have to do is keep studying and practicing and doing tests (believe me, i did this intense studying for about 10 weeks, going through at least 8-12 books, 1 even a week before the test) and my ACT composite improved a whole 5 total points, with a 5 point increase in math, 7 point increase in reading, 4 point increase in english, and i stayed the same in science. it can be done as long as you practice and put in the effort. it wont improve magically overnight by itself!

good luck!

Yea deffinetly study and go for it. I had a 1580 sat and a 24 act. I went up to a 1900 and a 30 by studying. Just realize that these tests arent about your knowledge at all, they just test how well you can take a test. Practice, and score higher.

laurstar07… 27 = a high 1200?? you mean on the old SATs..

Actually, a 27 is equivalent to a 1200 on the SAT (without writing). I use SAT = ACT * 44.4444444 . I have no idea about the new SAT, since we don’t use the writing score for anything in Florida (woot!).

i too started with a 27 and now have a 32, so you can too. the english is very easy to increase your score in, you just have to learn how ACT wants you to answer. you can do this by taking tests and going over the answers. i highly recommend using actual ACT tests for this. reading can greatly improve just by getting used to the question types and the time constraint. my reading has gone from a 23 to a 31. all in all, you can definitely study your way to a good score and if youre starting at a 27, it won’t be too hard

ACT seems to be a much more friendly test than the SAT. I start seeing the meaninglessness of taking SAT.

What is a ACT 31 equivalent to SAT standard?

I’ve researched so far its from 2040 (pr) to 2150 (wiki)

According to these stats, i would say it would be leaning more to the latter?

well iono, alot of it has to do with lucky. i knew a guy who went from 1900 to 2290 in like 3 months. then again this guy was pretty smart. yea, dont worry about it, the sky’s the limit

kowloon: obviously it is for the old SAT
