Be it for IVY or other Elite school, even 20%-40% acceptance rates of the school, how likely is the student likely to get admission?
Do you have a great hook? Are you an athlete or a legacy? Otherwise, I would say no chance at all. Evn if you had one of those things, still not great odds. Schools with 20-40% acceptance rates, obviously better, but still not fantastic. Try taking the ACT, people often find they do better on it. I think with those scores you are looking at colleges with 50% acceptance rates.
Not Ivys I wouldn’t think but a 2050 will open up some doors in the 30-40% rate schools if you target the ones that will want you; ie., if you are male and they are female heavy, if you are looking at a major the school is hoping to enlarge, if you look outside the northeast.
Yes, agree with above. There are lots of ways to improve your chances at the school in the 30-40% range. I think in the 20% range, that score is too low.
I think OP is a senior waiting to hear back from colleges.
SS69696969, Did you apply to any safeties? As long as there are affordable colleges on your list where your stats are in the upper end of their mid-50th percentile of accepted students, you’re in good shape. You just have to wait it out.
It’s possible, but you’d really have to know what would make you desirable and that’s so much more than the usual assumptions about running some club, your “passions” or a hard luck essay. Even kids with top scores miss that. Plus, this is more than just getting in. They have to see you can really handle the four years. Put your efforts in the right directions.
A 2050 will make you competitive for a lot of schools with admit rates 25-40%. But of course it is not the only consideration
