How much consideration given to location?

I'm looking through all these posts with insane amounts of EC's, and I'm greatly disheartened!

Truly, I don't particularly care for many of those things, but the fact of the matter is that even if I wanted to pursue them, I couldn't! I live in a small city in valley VA - heck, opposite my school is a freakin' poultry farm and grazing meadow! The local university doesn't offer diddly-squat in the way of activities, and...you get the point.

VEXED! Is this going to badly hurt my chances?

Probably not. For most schools, academics are primary. If you have good grades, decent test scores, etc., you will be able to get into most schools.

People pursue their passions from anywhere. Especially in the internet age. The best ECs are not school clubs.

Um, kinda hard to pursue some of these things without school backing, you know.

Ummmm, don't tell that to colleges. They are looking for people who know how to make things happen.
