How much did you spend on textbooks?

How many books did you buy?
How much did you ultimately spend?

How many books did you buy?
I only had to buy two, because that's all that I needed.

How much did you ultimately spend?
I found both of them for $20 each! So including shipping, I spent $49 for two books. No complaints. (:

What about you?

I needed 22 books. My school bookstore has a rental system for some books, and I rented one book. I also bought one book from the bookstore and 5 books from Amazon. The rest I borrowed from my local public library. This is a gamble, as I may or may not be able to renew some of them depending on of other people have holds on them. However, I only ended up spending about $86. Pretty good for 22 books, 6 bought and one rented (Especially considering one of the ones I bought cost $155 from the bookstore!!!)

That’s sweet. I got about a 1k grant for books and I KNOW 3 books won’t equate to $1000 so I’m most likely going to save some of the money.

I really want new books just because I can afford to buy them but I’m also thinking it’s wiser to buy used books so I can save more money.

Stratus, is your grant a one time thing or an every semester/year thing?

^^Actually the entire $1k amount is a one time thing, but my school gives me $460 for books every semester. So I’m VERY lucky to have this 1k (my school + organization)grant this semester.

Wow, that’s very nice. $460 should cover your books every semester no problem. I wish I had that.

about $200
8 books.

Dude, depending on the types of books, you might have gotten ripped off. Did you buy from the bookstore or from somewhere else?

About $230. Almost all were used, plus I had to spend $75 for mathlab access.

$230 on 3 books or 10? it makes a difference.

Without the math Student Kit Access, I spent $155 on 7 books.

That’s decent, considering it sounds like some of those were math books which are usually not cheap.

13 books, $260 (but an english class with 7 books required & shopping at used bookstores helped)

Actually, my math book was only $10 (used) with shipping. It was my history book (used) and my English ‘How To’ book (new) that cost about $50 each. I couldn’t find them cheaper anywhere else. But oh well, I don’t think I spent a tremendous amount of $ on them.

One of my books I couldn’t find ANYWHERE for less than $50, until I saw it up for bid on eBay, and I put in a bid for $20 honestly saying “Someone will totally outbid me,” but nobody did, so I got it for $20, somehow crazy…

^Nice. I usually go with Amazon. In 3 years, I’ve only been disappointed twice, and I’ve needed a LOT of books.

11 books 2 rented from the lot, spent about $350

i spent about less than 50 every semester because i sell them at the end. Initially though, i’d cost me 100± for 4ish books.
always buy used books from ppl who took the class or online

Wow. I couldn’t find ANY books on Amazon for my classes. Well, one actually but it was the same exact price as my school bookstore. I’m waiting for an estimate on my 7 books, but if I get all new ones and a couple used, the total is $500.

$60 for four classes.
