How much do AP classes weigh at your school?

Hello everyone, I was very curious about how much do AP classes weigh in other schools through out the states.

For an example, I live in Houston Texas and AP classes here generally weigh about 6.0 points for 100-98, 5.8 for honors and 4.8 for on grade.

However i think my weighing system is a bit unfair becuase at my school AP classes are like 4 time more rigorous than honors.

how you do feel about yours?

5 for an AP, regular 4 point scale for honors/everything else.

I so wish my school gave extra points for honors. Oh, well. Colleges recalculate GPAs anyway.

AP and honors
5 - A
4 - B
3 - C
2 - D
0 - F
Regular
4 - A
3 - B
2 - C
1 - D
0 - F

and - doesn’t matter. A+ and A- have the same weight

Our school doesn’t weigh at all… yeah. Sucks if you choose to take harder classes.

+8 for AP. It’s kind of nice because our AP classes are like normal regular classes without a bunch of worksheets. It’s easier to get a higher grade in an AP class (without the AP points added) than regular classes.

NONE.

10char

AP
A+ 4.5
A 4.25
A- 4.0
you get the idea

Regular and Honors
A+ 4.25
A 4.0
A-3.75

Yeah so you could say AP is either weighted a half or a quarter point but I say it’s only weighted a quarter since it only gives you a quarter point advantage over people taking regular classes.

6 pounds, 5 ounces

On a 4.0 scale, honors and APs are weighted the same.

For A’s it is plus .02 to our overall GPA and .01 for B’s.

my school is ■■■■■■■■ and counts +'s and -'s

APs get a 1.1 multiplier (ten percent increase) - 90 becomes a 99, etc.
Honors get a 1.05 multiplier - 80 becomes an 84.

AP’s are multiplied by 1.2

so… 83 = 100
honors/everything else not weighted

I’m not a fan
it seems to me like kids then take 5 AP classes junior/senior year automatically rank top 5 and those who take less AP classes don’t stand a chance, regardless if they do wonderfully in those perhaps honors and not AP level classes

At my school, here’s the weighing system!

Standard weigh:
A-4.0
B-3.0
C-2.0
D-1.0
F-0.0

If you’re taking AP classes, you add 1.0 to the weight for that class. Honors classes add a weight of .5.

~ Theos

Regular Class: 1
AP Class/Dual Enrollment: 1.25

AP - 4 points, so a 90 is like a 94.
Honors - 2 points, so a 90 is like a 92.

using numerical grades: + 5% for honors, + 7% for AP’s

For seniors and juniors (includes me):
AP and Honors are weighted
A 6.0
B 4.5
C 3.0
D 1.5
F 0.0

For everyone else:
AP is the same as above
Honors is weighted
A 5.0
B 3.8
C 2.6
D 1.2
F 0.0

lol pandadragon, i would totally be the val at my school if we used that weight system.

this…

My school doesn’t differentiate between advanced and AP. We have 4 types of classes, standard, honors, advanced, and AP. There’s a .5 gap between honors and standard, and a .9 gap between honors and advanced, but there’s no difference between advanced and AP…
