How much do AP exam scores count in the admissions process?

I know that many people say that AP exam grades do count, but very little and are mainly used to see if you are eligible for exemption from classes once you are accepted into college. However, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much exactly will these grades affect an admissions decision? For example, if my dream school is Yale, and I happen to have gotten a 4 on one of my AP exams, will this significantly lower my chances? Thank you.

Colleges essentially don’t look at AP scores during the admissions process, and a 4 certainly won’t hurt you.

4s and 5s won’t hurt, but if you have 4/5s in atleast 8/9 subjects, it might help you.

Do you choose the scores you want colleges to see?

Dude, a 4 is a GOOD score. And colleges really don’t care that much about AP scores. I know there’s people who’ve received 2s and 3s (though balanced with better scores) and have gotten into schools like MIT and Berkeley.
