I am a transfer student that has just been accepted to University of Texas, and I am wondering if my grades from community college will be looked at ever again. I know that CC grades aren't factored into your UT GPA, but I want to leave my options open for an advanced degree after a bachelors, so would my CC GPA be looked at if I were to apply to masters, phD, or professional schools down the line? Also, would companies recruiting at UT (particularly for engineering) look at the CC GPA or would they be more concerned with my UT GPA? What about internships? If anyone has any experience or information that could answer any of these questions, I would greatly appreciate!

@want2engr I am pretty sure graduate programs are going to look at your cumulative gpa, but it mostly depends on the school. I’m sure that if you are planning on doing your graduate degree at UT they will be mostly concerned with your UT gpa. As far as employment opportunities go, I think they are going to be more concerned with your UT gpa than your junior. None of this can really be exhaustively answered because every graduate school/company is going to do things a little bit differently.

Question: Which colleges did you apply for? Did you apply for Cockrell? If so, congratulations. I am a transfer applying to Cockrell as an EE and CNS for Applied Mathematics. Congratulations on your acceptance and I hope to see you there this fall!

Employee typically looking at your GPA at where you graduated from. However, Grad school will look at your cumulative GPA which is from all the college course you ever take in your life.
