How much do engineering schools care about non-science/math classes

Hello, i'm a sophomore currently in high school. Ive always been interested in engineering, and have been great at science. I'm taking AP Chemistry, and have always gotten very high B's through Average A's in all my science classes. As for math, i'm mediocre, I decided not to take honors math to keep my gpa up. Taking regular 10th grade math so far i'm doing very well and all the material seems simple. As for my other classes, last year I did pretty bad in spanish, getting a low c, and a low b in English.

My question is, how much do engineering schools care about non science/math classes and freshman year in general were most students have a bad time transitioning into high school.

Freshman year does not matter very much, especially if there is improvement in your grades afterwards.

What is regular 10th grade math to you? I will say that if you want to fly through math and keep GPA high, dual enroll. You complete a year’s work in a semester. If you start now, you could graduate having completed through calculus III.

Also, it doesn’t matter that you get a low B, it will still show up as just a B on your transcript, which is all that matters. Also, above poster is right. A positively trending grade pattern looks very good. It’s obvious then that you’re working hard to improve yourself.

By regular math I mean non honors or AP, just regular 10th grade math(geometry here in Florida). I’m definitely gona look into dual enrollment, thanks.
