how much do FINAL transcripts matter?

final transcripts for upcoming freshmen are required by early June.
and i don't know about anyone else here, but i'm a little worried.
i have a serious case of senioritis..!
i'm in the IB program and my report cards are usually 3 a's 3 b's (which is what uf saw for my transcripts that didn't include senior year grades...)
first semester of senior year i had 3 a's 3 b's again...
now it's 2nd semester and lets say i make like a 2.8 gpa..
and i end up with maybe a 3.0 for final grades
how much is this going to hurt me?
would they really un-admit me for fall 08 because of a slight drop in grades?

^going back to that..do they look at each semester individually or just the final over-all year grades?

sorry i had to make that more complicated than it needed to be..hah

What kind of letter grades are you expecting?

If its a slight difference, I dont think it will matter. If you decide to get all C's D's, and F's then it will look bad.

2nd semester is probably going to be bad.. i have a job and i'm working alot now so it's hard to find time for school work (and there's also the fact that i have a mild case of senioritis cough)
so i'm expecting
2nd semester: 1 A, 4 B's and a C
or 2 A's, 2 B's, and 2 C's..which both average out to be a 3.0
1st semester= 3 A's, 3 B's
so i'd expect for final final grades
2 A's, 4 B's..

Aesthetically, this looks better to me "2nd semester: 1 A, 4 B's and a C," but both shouldn't be a problem.

You'll be fine, though doing what ASMAJ suggested looks a lot more typical from a senior; it is what you should aim for.

Do you mean "quarter"? Your first semester grades should all be in.

I'm worried about this too! I'm in IB and with all of the damn Internal Assessments [and slight senioritis] it's been hard to keep up with all of my regular coursework. My math grade has hit an unprecidented low and I might end up with a C at least for the quarter [I have four weeks to pull it up 8 points].

ok so now you guys got me worried, im expecting to get 1 or 2 C's as FINAL grades for some classes, i have never goten anything below a B. will this really be an issue, i was told you have to flat out fail or get D's.

I've never had below a B either, which makes the C possiblity more...unnerving. I just know that UF could easily replace me with one of the 28,000 people they turned down, you know?

Yeah dont worry. If you get majority D's/F's then I would worry. Majority C's would raise an eyebrow, but not sure if they would care.

yeah i'm hoping you guys are right..
that would be really mean too.. i mean think about it, if they un-admitted you, then you'd be SCREWED. Because final transcripts are due in June, so what they'd send you a letter by the end of june saying "well looks like we're going to have to decline your admissions to our school. good luck trying to find another college this late to accept you!"...
yeahh
i might make up a new email (mine have my name on them) and send something to an admissions rep. Haha i'm so paranoid if I use my email now they'll see my name and be like, oh we better make sure we take a good look at her final transcripts, this senioritis slacker!

You definitely should. I'd be afraid to use my own too! Lol.

ahh so you guys think i'm ok if i get like 3 C's FINAL grade?

my senioritis is sooooo bad, ive never gotten anything below B

haha oh i will
i'll let you guys know what i hear
i'm contemplating what to say
"hi i was admitted to fall 08 and let me just say i have an extremely serious case of senioritis. Doc says hope for the best but expect the worst. I'm wondering how a 2.8 gpa for my senior year sounds to you guys?"

a) Use proper capitalization.
b) The humor is cute but uh, rather informal. I guess they won't KNOW it's you.

as i said
i was "contemplating what to say"
what i wrote was a mere exaggeration, i wasn't actually going to say that because
a) i'm not that dumb
b) that's almost offensive to write to a college that accepted you
and
c) it was, as i stated, meant in its simplest form to be a joke (but i guess that one flew right over your head, ehh?)

and this is a message board, not a formal online conference. i never use proper capitalization/grammar here, deal with it.

You used quotes, implying that was what you intended to write.

With your informal writing style on here, you shouldn't be surprised that I wasn't 100% sure you were joking. I know it's a message board, but it's the only representation I have of you.

In any case, I missed where you said it was a joke, and I re-checked your post.
