How much do highschool grades matter?

Self-explanatory... can anyone give me a rough breakdown of a college's, let's say Stanford's, analysis of a potential transfer. What are the ratios, 50% what college you're transferring from/college grades, 25% test scores 25% highschool grades? Something to that effect?

I don't have the stat breakdown, I would love to know that also. but I think it depends on how different your college grades are from your HS (like if there is a huge diffrence, or just a subtle rising trend), and the rigor of your school/coursework. It also depends on Soph or Junior transfer, of course the latter causing there to be less weight on your HS grades.

haha, is that supposed to help? I don't think that informtion has been posted on this board before.

your right. My bad.

Almost anything you will find on this forum will be speculation. I suggest doing your own research by calling schools and asking for rough weights, or extrapolating from the successes (or failures) of students with similar situations. For the latter task, jacknjill's second post in this thread is apposite.

exactly!! like with many things.... no one really knows for sure! it also really depends on the school, as well as on the person's overall application. I think, from what i've seen (not really for myself, but for others i know) that the transfer application process is much more unpredictable and fickle than the regular one is... and the regular one is pretty unpredictable, if you ask me!

my advice: don't let your high school gpa hold you back from applying anywhere. it's always worth a shot, and you really dont know how much the school will look at it. calling the schools would probably be helpful.

good luck!!! :)

for UCs.. they don't care at all

yay i agree with starcatch...
