I am a transfer student, and I’m still waiting for my decision for UC Davis and UCB. In the meantime, I have no idea how much do I need to pay out of pocket, and I am worry I might not have the money. I am a instate student with EFC of 0 (low-income student), and I got the Pell grant and cal grant etc in my community college. I don’t have any scholarship, so I am kind of worry what should I expect if I got into Davis or Berkeley. If anyone who goes to Davis or Berkeley, please share your experience. I really need some advices. Thanks!
If you’ve filled out the FAFSA, and you got your paperwork into the Cal Grant officebefore March 1, then those schools will provide a financial aid page to you. They will indicate what your costs would be. Look at the financial aid web pages. Cost of Attendance
Estimated costs, for the year, for a resident at Davis, are approximately $37k.
Just a note: you seem to have significant struggles with your English grammatical skills, especially with the use of past tense, the use of articles, plural nouns and your overall flow of the English language. Please, please work on these skills, before you transfer, because this is going to affect your essays, reports, labs, and mostly grades at the University.
Most of the UC‘s are on a quarter system which means you only have 10 weeks to prove yourself for a grade. Struggling through language coursework, at a community college, is not going to help you when you transfer to a university.
If you are a second language speaker, then, they may give you a little leeway, but universities expect that their graduates have a good grasp of English language (verbal and written) skills because it’s what the employers demand.
You can use the Net price calculator for UC Davis and UC Berkeley both linked here to get an estimate. They are setup for Freshman applicants but you can get an idea of yearly costs as a Transfer student.
Thanks for your advice, and I will work on my grammar skills before I transfer to the UC’s. I am a second language speaker, and thanks for pointing this out to me. When I write this post, I forgot to check my grammar mistakes, and I should’ve done that before posting anything. I always forgot to check my writing, and I will make sure to do that next time.
I forgot to mention that your Cal Grant wont necessarily
carry over to the next university. Some things will transition, but other items wont.
You need to contact the Cal Grant office after you’ve been admitted, but you also need to make sure the new school has received your information.

Thanks for the document you provided, and I would check out this document later today. I hope my writing might seem more fluent as I am checking for grammar mistakes.
I’m still a dependent so they give me money based on what my parents make. I got into UCR and already got my financial package, so I used the net calculator to see if it would be the same and it was the same as my financial aid package. So as long as you put the correct information in the net calculator for the UC then it should give you a good estimate on what you’re going to pay. I can go more into detail if you still have questions
