How much do Olympiads/Science Fairs help?

Hello everyone, I'm new so don't hate on me that I can't find where this topic has been done for the last 999 times.

I am a rising senior and I was wondering how much this actually helps resumes. I know that the Olympiads are highly sought after, but I was wondering what the general consensus is about these nationally recognized competitions.

Say that a student has...

Great GPA (like a 3.9, taken many difficult courses)

Great SAT (2250+)
(up to here you have probably guessed that I am describing the typical Asian student)

Qualified for an Olympiad or is a national semifinalist in a major research competition.

How would their chances at selective colleges look provided they have just these 3 things? I'm just wondering how other people feel about this.

I really don’t know, but I’d say he’s good to go until the top 10 colleges.
This is a very interesting thread though
