How much do senior yr grades count?

I applied ED but my first quarter grades are not going to be strong at all (they should be ready in 2 weeks). I'm taking 5 APs and am getting B- in the two hardest. How much will this hurt my chances?

Hi Collegegrl88,

I'm applying early too. What I've gathered from meetings and talking to my admissions officer is that senior grades are really important. However, getting one B will not be detrimental to your success. If you get in under ED than most likely they will only see your grades after they have already made a decision. Therefore, they would only check up on your grades to make sure you're not getting multiple C's or showing a tremendous decrease in academic achievement. Basically, I do not think your B or B's will be a detriment to your acceptance. Good luck!

Thanks for your response. I am nervous because we do need to send first quarter grades for ED. I think that I am getting 2 Bs - in AP macroeconomics and AP chemistry. I have never gotten less than an A- before now.

I think as long as your grades arent dropping too much below what they were last year it should be fine. One or 2 B's out of 5 APs shouldnt be too bad.
