How much do top colleges stress on unweighted GPA?

As the title says, do top colleges such as Stanford, MIT, Texas: Austin, and Harvard stress on unweighted GPA?

Based on the threads I'm reading, many of the students that are accepted to those colleges have an unweighted of 4.0.

It's to late for me.

My unweighted GPA is about 3.57, still a sophomore; however that's my GPA for this year, I had all B's and B+'s last year, which will most likely bring it down.

If my weighted GPA Is > 4.0, but my unweighted stays around 3.6-3.7, do you think that would kill me?

It’s not exactly too late for you in terms of getting acceptance into top universities. Sure, your GPA isn’t stellar but if you have an upward trend in your grades and get straight As in a lot of AP or IB classes in 11th and 12th grade, you could still be considered competitive. Both unweighted and weighted matter as weighted shows that you took rigorous classes and unweighted shows how well you did in those classes.

I don’t think it will kill you but the other parts of your application should be extraordinary. Nothing can “make up” for mediocre grades but having a compelling story, deep involvement in ecs, and recognition for your talents will certainly help you.

Four year old thread. I think the OP figured it out by now.
