I am applying RD to U of Rochester and I have already toured the campus and had an interview. I believe the interview went well, although I was the first interview that the lady assigned to me had ever given, so she was noticeably as nervous as I was if not more. Anyway, I was wondering how much this will benefit my application?
My D was told specifically by a Roch rep that they “strongly encourage” interviews. It shows interest. I wouldn’t worry about nervousness. Everyone is, to some extent. As long as it wasn’t a disaster, you should be good.
One thing I kept in mind when I did my interview (and now as my ED application is being reviewed ) was that it can only help your application, and can never weaken it. U of R seems to be big on demonstrated interest, so if all else fails, your interview demonstrates that the school isn’t just a safety that you’d never consider attending.
Just having done an interview gives you an extra check on your application so I think it is good you did it even if the interviewer seemed nervous.
For what it’s worth, my son did not interview, but was accepted and offered $20k merit award
Same as fbsdreams, I didn’t interview and got in with a $19k merit scholarship!
