Applying to 8 schools is expensive. What's the average income or the cut-off income for most people granted a fee waiver?

Additionally, on Penn's application, they provide a small coupon like application to apply for a fee waiver. If they decide that you don't qualify for one, is your application incomplete? Do they allow you to send in the check after they deny you?

I think that you have to qualify for the federal free lunch program, which is a good reason for low income students to make sure that they fill out that paperwork even if they don't plan to accept those lunches.

actually kcirsch, I have two computers but my family's income is >10,000. I mean it's so low that I didn't even have to sign-up for free lunch, they just sent me a letter saying I got it. We've all learned to be fairly thrifty, but shelling out 400 bucks for applications would be a bit rough.

My parents are divorced and my mother is unemployed and my father makes decent money. But because I live with my mom and I get free lunch I automatically receive a fee waiver. fyi
