How Much Do You Spend Per Week?

So, I'm attempting to begin budgeting for fall semester. I've been asking other students about how much they spend per week. I've gotten responses all across the board from, "I have NO clue", to "Ten dollars a week on food, since my parents helped me stockpile when I came, and the rest depends on the week", to "Meh, probably fifty-one hundred". So, how much do you spend each week and do you cook for yourself (meaning eat out as well) or eat school food?

I live in an extremely high cost of living area. My expenses are: transportation, entertainment, ALL food, clothes, etc. I go through $100-150 a week.
(I know it sounds like a lot, but that’s really the bare minimum needed here.) If you’re going to be somewhere cheaper, your expenses should definitely be less.

Where I am currently in IN… I spent about $7-10/day on food… so that would average out to about $250/month on food. I live in an apartment and do cook but also have frozen Amy’s foods for a quite something. I don’t buy like the store brand stuff… I don’t really go cheap on food.

$50 per week? I don’t have a meal plan, so I cook and buy some of my meals from the dining hall a la carte. During finals week, that figure easily doubles.

On food I spend maybe 20-30 dollars a week, but that’s just meals off-campus. I eat a lot of my meals in the dining hall which I don’t pay for.

Other stuff depends on the week. I go to a lot of concerts so tickets for that can be expensive, and then every two weeks or so I buy some alcohol or drugs or whatever, so that can get a little expensive.

If I had to come up with an average I’d say somewhere around $40-50 a week.

I think if I averaged it out it would be somewhere from 10-15 dollars a week, maybe a bit less. Most of the time I don’t really spend much of anything, but once every few weeks my boyfriend and I will go out to dinner, or I’ll splurge on some baklava from this local Mediterrean place, or something like that. :)

I spend about $25 a week. If I had my way I would budget for $50.

I spend a lot, but that’s a result of going to a small, rich LAC with a lot of parties. I would say on food I spend $75-100/week (I’m a varsity athlete so I need to eat). Everything else varies on what time of year it is (in season vs. out of season), but lately out of season I spend another ~$75+/week. This is also not including utilities, cable, fraternity dues, internet, rent, gas, etc. that I pay for as well. I wouldn’t be able to afford all this if I didn’t wait tables 20-25 hours/week, but it’s worth it for the financial independence.

It really varies on where you live, people going to college in…say New York City are going to have a higher spending amount them someone going to college in say Missouri. Mine is between $50-$100 a week.

I spend $7-800 a month on everything (excluding tuition & student fees). This includes $500 for rent & utilities.
So I spend $2-300 a month on food, gas, and other random crap.

But I’m a minimalist and am definitely on the low side of everyone I know.

It depends on the week to be honest. Usually I spend $10-15/week.

around $200 a week…I dont cook food

20 $ ? it’s significantly more if I have to buy food.

$5,100… ?

The amount of money I withdraw from my bank account weekly is probably somewhere around 15-20 dollars, mostly at cheap restaurants near campus when I get tired of dorm food or if I’m busy during the normal dinner time and don’t have anything in my room, etc (oh and bubble tea, can’t get enough of that stuff). This will likely go way up next year when I’m living in an apartment and having to buy groceries and such.
