I was just wondering how much time a week you all spend on homework and assignments? Of course it different when exams are coming up so how much do you study then?

I study four or five hours a night. Before finals I was studying with friends from about ten or eleven to 10pm, taking study breaks every few hours to play a game of Scrabble.

Not much. Lol. Usually I just do my homework each night if I remember which takes about 45 minutes and then if there’s a test the next day I will study for like two or three hours. Before finals I studied for like two or three hours before each test. Lol.

I did fine, gradewise. I probably could have done better if I had worked harder, but I’m satisfied with what I got for the amount of work I put in.

Far too much. Perhaps 8-10 hours a night. Not much more when exams are happening; most of my courses are of the nature that if one does the work well the first time through, there’s little need for excessive studying during exams.

I do no studying unless I have a quiz/test approaching. Then I’ll study for an hour or so for a few nights leading up to the test. For exams, I’ll study an hour or two at a time for each test in intervals leading up to the exam.

On homework other than essays, I spend very little time on it because there isn’t much of it. For an essay, it depends on the length. I’ll research and outline for an hour, then write a 4-6 page paper in about 2-2.5 hours, a 7-10 paper in 3-3.5, and so on and so forth. Then I’ll spend a half an hour for all the days leading up the due date editing the paper and ironing out problems.

I’m not one of those people who can study for 9 hours straight. My roommate does that, and I don’t understand how. I would lose my ability concentrate after about three hours, and then I would spend the rest of the time reading notes without absorbing anything. But that’s just me. I know some people can manage 9-10 of straight studying. -shrug- Not my thing.

How much time you have to study changes from class to class, college to college, and person to person. So, it’s kind of hard to gauge an average.

I study probably 8 hours a day tops, more if I have a test or assignment. But I only study four or five days a week, I don’t do anything academic the other days most of the time.

I don’t study unless I have a test or quiz (I’m an international relations & economics major). I generally spend a few hours a couple days before the exam making a study guide, and then study all day the day before the test. For quizzes I’ll glance over the stuff I have to study for an hour or two. Most of my assignments are papers. Unless they are greater than 10 pages I normally just write them the night/day before they are due. It takes me 30 minutes to write a 2pg response, 3 hours for a 5-8 page response, and then 5 hours for a 10-15+ page response (if I already did the reading…otherwise it takes longer).

Totally depends on the class, professor and how you define “study”. Sometimes I’ll spend a couple of hours reading…mostly I don’t study unless there’s a quiz/test coming up.
