How much does a consistently weak subject hurt?

For the past 4 years of high school, my math grades has always been weak (usually a B or B+ compared to A's or A+'s for the other subjects). Even my SAT math was really weak (620 Math compared to 790 CR and 730 W). So, how much is that gonna hurt me in admissions?

N.B. It's not like I don't study math or blow it off, I really just can't do math as well as my other subjects. I dunno why, it's just the way it is.

im wondering too, cause I suck at science (A-) but I consistently get A+'s in all other subjects

Considering the trend towards well-lopsidedness, it may hurt but it won't be an instant rejection by any means.

It depends on the school. It'll hurt more at tech schools than it will at schools that value writing a lot more.

If you don't want to apply to somewhere like MIT, I'm sure you'll be fine. i struggle alot in math too. My SAT math score is weak and I struggle in my math classes all the time. I'm sure that colleges understand that most students have a "weak" spot that they don't do as great in. They don't want perfect people. Try your best and keep doing great in your other subjects. Good luck!

^^^true...

Haha...I have the opposite problem

I have a 36 ACT math, 800 SAT II math, and got a 5 on the Calc BC exam...and I make B's in my math classes and A's in my science and social studies classes. Actually if I make an A in AP Stats this semester, it'll be the first time since freshman year that I made an A in a math class (I'm a senior now).

Anyway, just thought that was peculiar about myself.

I have a friend who is just like you (scored high on the verbal and writing sections on the SAT....i think very close to 800, if not 800 on both section, does well in his humanities classes, but got a 650 or so in math, and gets B's-C's in his math classes). I honestly think he won't have a problem with college admissions. I wouldn't worry about consistently low math grades/scores, colleges will know that math is just your weak area, and everybody has weak areas.
