<p>I saw on the common app and on other apps a place where it asks for an explanation of the mark on the discipline record and I'm curious about how much this particular mark will affect my chances at admission into universities. I intend to apply to Northwestern, University of Illinois (two in state), Georgia Tech, U.C. Berkeley, U Southern California, Carnegie Mellon (four out of state.) </p>
<p>I got suspended from school for making a racial remark (I said the principal was a hood (expletive ending in -er)) and even though I thought I was saying it jokingly now I realize I was being ignorant, racist, and generalizing about someone and now it is on my record. I did learn from the experience, did my research, and now am probably one of the more racially conscious people out there.</p>
<p>Anyways it's a concern for me and would appreciate anyone with any information or anyone who was in the same experience to tell me what happened. I wonder if during an interview they question about this. Thanks!</p>
