How much does an interviewer's recomendation count for??????

My stats are not the best,
1790 SAT (out of 2400)
90%gpa

And I have pretty good ec's.

A few days ago I had an interview with an alumni, and it went really well.
We chatted for almost an hour and at the end he said something along the lines of
"...this is more than enough to write you a strong recommendation for Vanderbilt"

So I was just wondering, if an interviewer's feedback is really really good could that have a profound affect on an admission decision?

Is it even taken seriously by Vanderbilt?

my interviewer said the point of the interview is to make sure you are normal and can get along with people at Vandy. that being said, as long as you are normal, a good interview really does not make much difference in admissions. it is more important that you actually did the interview than what the report says. but it is not nearly important enough to overcome bad stats.

my interviewer said the point of the interview is to make sure you are normal

Now I have no hope of being admitted. Haha. ;]

I was told that because only about a 1/5 of vandy applicants actually interview a strong one can have a very large impact on an applicant. It wont get you in but it will tip the odds in your favor.

^ That's cool. My interviewer went even further than the OP's.

she was like "Wow. I'm going to write you the most persuasive rec that I can, and I'm hoping so bad that you get in. Let me know as soon as you find out!"

lolz, I loved her. In a platonic, non-creepy way :D

Luke, you're silly.

And you could get in without the interview anyway.

Yes, I am very silly, and very proud of it :)

could being the key word there. As in, it's possible. Not probable. Now who's the silly one? ;)
