how much does an 'upward trend' count for?

Didn't care about school for the 1st year and a half of high school...had a 2.1 at the end of freshman year, 2.65 at the end of sophomore year. I started 'getting it' towards the end of sophomore year. Junior year I had a 3.85 for the year, which brought me to a 3.02. I had a 4.0 in rigorous schedule 1st quarter of senior year, bringing me to a 3.24. With another 4.0 this quarter, i'll have around a 3.35.

Extremely competitive school
GPA: 3.24
SAT: 680 V, 700 M, 720 W
SAT 2: 700 Lit, 700 World Hist.
AP: 5 Human Geog.

pretty good teacher recs, outstanding counselor rec

Average ECs:
-varsity basketball fresh, soph year before breaking bones in lower back
-ridiculous amount of basketball related awards, activites, etc.
-Tutor/mentor at inner city after school program
-music reviewer for school newspaper
-Photographer for school newspaper

Will my upward trend make up somewhat for my poor overall gpa? What are my chances at my top schools?

Tufts

NYU
BU
Michigan
Wisconsin

I'd say you are fine at all the schools on your list except possibly NYU & Tufts.
