This may be a silly question to ask on a statistical level, but I was wondering if I could get some anecdotal experience. Does anyone have experience with knowing more than two languages in college admissions? Also, has anyone spoken to an admissions counselor about the weight of knowing more than two languages?
Do some schools weigh being trilingual differently?
Are some languages seen as more impressive to know than others ( knowing several Romance languages v.s. knowing German and Japanese)?
I am just curious about this topic. I am not looking for personal advice.
Middlebury might value it. Most won’t. Outside of the English-speaking countries, most educated people are multilingual.
It might make an interesting essay, though.

SFS at Georgetown values language skills.
I think it depends what kind of university you are applying to and what your interests are. If it’s an Ivy or Stanford, it’s not unusual to see multilingual students among their accepted applicants. I think anything like that helps.
It’s nice, but not a special advantage. It’s helpful when your potential major benefits from skills in certain languages. But again, not a tip. Not in the ways some hope.
