How much does class rank matter?

<p>my school doesn't exactly rank. it does 1st 10%. 2nd 10% etc.
And it does it by UNweighted from 10th to 11th grade.
1 B makes me out of the run for the 1st 10%
the cut off is 3.96 for the second 10% it starts with 3.95 ... and i have 3.954545454545.....
From the sound of the counselor I am gonna be in the 2nd 10%.
how much is that going to hurt me? just wondering.</p>

<p>(my school is not a slacker school. about 25% per class get into Berkeley a year. and 50 semis for national merit and 70 for commended out of about 400 kids)</p>

<p>There are many schools (including the one you know I know best :) ) which don't rank at all. The rest of your app will be strong, I'd say don't sweat it.</p>
