I know that PSU says "2/3 GPA, 1/3 SAT" are their admission criteria. But I see a lot of people in this forum talk about all the honors/AP classes they took, and how their class rank helped them. Do these factors really count at Penn State?

I don’t think it counts too much at PSU, unless you are borderline or have some other extenuating circumstances.

I think when people see questions on an application about how many honors/AP classes you have taken, they think they are being judged on that. I am pretty sure the Counselor form asked for class rank/rigor. I am guessing that Penn State reviews more information on borderline students. If you have a high GPA and good SAT scores they make their decision based on that information alone.

And the gpa on the bubble chart- is that weighted or unweighted?

the bubble chart on the PSU admissions page (search Penn State bubble chart) must be weighted because it goes up to 4.40. I have seen ones on other websites that only go up to 4.0 which I take to be unweighted. Also, on the Penn State data page the middle 50% are based on a 4.0 scale.
